of products and services for the quantification
and management of catastrophe risk.
Business Need
With recent progress in remote sensing
techniques opening up new possibilities
for natural hazard assessment, the client
asked RMSI to carry out a study of Bhuj
earthquake to explore the technical feasibility
of using remote sensing & spatial analysis
to assess the damage caused by the earthquake.
Solution
As part of the study, IRS ID LISS III (pre
and post event) satellite data was used
for change detection analysis and damage
assessment map preparation.GPS based ground
verification was also carried out to generate
MMI zones for the affected area.
Benefits
The client received a comprehensive damage
assessment map of the affected area, generated
within a short span of time in a cost effective
manner.
This damage assessment map could be used
