Outsourcing Excellence Recognized
in Marketplace and Awards Competition
NEWARK CA, March 17, 2005:
In the new economy, many global companies are
now devoting proportionally more internal resources
to their core competency, while outsourcing any
activities not central to the mission. This trend
has led to greater demand for premier outsourcing
companies such as RMSI, a global IT services company
with offices in the United States, Great Britain,
and India. RMSI’s unique outsourcing business
model has led to recent recognition both in the
marketplace and among independent judges of the
Outsourcing Excellence Awards. RMSI employs over
600 software and data specialists trained to partner
in the creation, customization and execution of
unique IT solutions.
The RMSI emphasis on partnership is demonstrated
by an award-winning strategic outsourcing relationship
with Geographic Data Technology. This partnership
recently led to Second Place recognition in the
most recent Outsourcing Excellence Awards program
for “Most Collaborative Relationship”.
The annual OEA awards program is sponsored by
The Outsourcing Center, Forbes, The Wharton/University
of Pennsylvania, and The Everest Company.
A unique outsourcing model helped RMSI gain
a partnership relationship with Geographic Data
Technology (GDT), a US-based map database company
that is now a part of Tele Atlas North America.
RMSI’s relationship with GDT began in November
1999. The client wished to enhance positional
accuracy and attributes of its proprietary vector
database offering comprised of streets, railroads
and water features.
As the relationship grew, the client invited RMSI
to be a part of a study team to formulate processes
for the next big challenge of enhancing streets
vectors covering almost 70% of USA’s population
in a span of 15 months. RMSI worked with the client’s
engineering teams to evolve a process flow with
input and output interfaces defined. Together
the companies delivered innovative technological
solutions to meet the target of completing more
than a million linear miles of the vector database.
In recognizing this partnership, judges for the
Outsourcing Excellence Awards pointed to a quantifiable
outcome rich in innovation and cost effective
solutions.
For projects such as this, RMSI also developed
an automated Work Flow Management system to manage
the large number of professionals who had been
ramped up to ensure delivery with quality and
on time. Part of RMSI’s one-of-a-kind outsourcing
business model, the Work Flow Management system
automatically dictates work allocation & monitoring
and ensures quality checks & quick error rectification.
The RMSI model also breeds a workforce of contented
and productive professionals. This is evidenced
by the two most recent IDC – Dataquest surveys
of employee productivity and satisfaction: In
both the 2003 and 2004 surveys, RMSI ranked in
the “Top 20 Indian IT Best Employers.”
In the most recent survey, RMSI moved up three
positions to number 16.
A growing trend towards outsourcing is evident
in Europe, as well. According to RMSI CEO Ajay
Lavakare, “Business-savvy outsourcing has
become a key strategy for US and UK businesses
in order to gain benefits of cost effective quality
deliverables and grow the business at the same
time. Indian IT companies, because of their human
resource talent and availability, quality processes,
and time zone advantage, are today viewed by the
rest of the world as a preferred choice for entering
into mutually beneficial outsourcing and third
party business generation partnerships.”
