Climate Change Scenario Modeling and Risk Assessment, Lesotho

Client: UNDP Lesotho

The objective is to develop climate change projections for the project areas and a land degradation risk assessment. This assessment will be based on prevailing and forecasted land degradation levels assuming no adaptation in the project areas of Mohale Hoek, Lesotho

Solution - RMSI will provide technical support to Ministry of Forestry, Range and Soil Conservation and UNDP and recommendations for reducing vulnerability from climate change in foothills, lower land and Senqu River.

Actual services included:

• Publish climate change scenario report for the project areas of Lesotho

• Develop land degradation risk assessment report for the Mohale Hoek, of Lesotho

• Develop training package and associated materials that will be provided to the Ministry of Forestry, Range and Soil Conservation and Lesotho government staff

• Final report including overview of the assignment, main results and policy messages; recommendations for further studies/research and recommendations for improvements to the climate and hydrological monitoring network

 



Multi-Hazard Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (HRVA) for the Cities - Shillong (Meghalaya), and Cuttack (Odisha)

Client: UNDP India

USAID - MHA-UNDP partnership is developing resilient cities through risk reduction in the context of disaster and climate change.

The main objective of the proposed multi-hazard risk and vulnerability assessment is to assess the extent of risk and the vulnerabilities of Shillong and Cuttack cities.

Solution - The outcome of the study is expected to help identify a set of structural and non-structural steps that city administration and other stakeholders can take to mitigate the risks posed by various hazards.

Actual services included:

• Develop evidence based interim reports on multi-hazard mapping and analysis, exposure database and vulnerability assessment of the two cities.

• Develop reports on risk and capacity assessment at community, ward and city levels

• Prepare and present key findings and recommendations at a City level stakeholder workshop
