Developing Flood Forecast and Inundation Mapping Model for Rapti River Basin in Uttar Pradesh (UP), India
Client: UP Irrigation Department, India
The overall objective of this consultancy is to equip the UP irrigation department with:
• A comprehensive suite of models to improve flood forecasting in the Rapti river basin in UP
• An inundation mapping model based on Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data to predict extent, time of arrival, duration and depth at the community level
• Tools for disseminating warnings/alerts to public, institutions and communities
• Provide operations and user manuals, model upgrade protocols, and hands-on training on the flood model
The project involves extensive training sessions and workshops, including on-the-job training for engineers on model operation and updating; training for UPID staff on operation of hydrologic model, use of GIS & geospatial data sets and tools, hydraulics, meteorology, probabilistic forecasting, remote sensing, community participation. Additionally, the project involves maintenance, operational and upgrading support for three years inclusive of any training support.’
Climate Adaptation in Vennar Sub Basin in Cauvery Delta Project (CAVSCDP), India
Client: Asian Development Bank
The Government of Tamil Nadu (GoTN) is implementing the CAVSCDP with Asian Development Bank’s assistance. The objective of the project is to improve water management in the Vennar system. The project will have the following outcomes: (i) upgrading of flood risk management and irrigation infrastructure, (ii) establishment of improved water and flood risk management systems.
RMSI is providing project management support for this three-year assignment. The Project Management Specialist is expected to provide support to the PMU on project and financial management, including the tender process, award of contracts, supervision of construction contracts, planning and monitoring progress and quality control of construction.
