Climate-Resilient Coastal Protection and Management , India

Client: Client: Asian Development Bank

The consortium is led by FCG ANZDEC, New Zealand. The Technical Assitance ( TA ) will support mainstreaming of climate change resilience into coastal protection and shoreline management of the Indian coast, including developing and facilitating official endorsement of Climate Change Adaptation Guidelines; and implementation of selected pilot community coastal protection subprojects with integrated climate change adaptation measures.

Solution:
The outputs from the TA include four main components:

Component 1: Climate Change Adaptation Guidelines for protection and management of the Indian coast

Component 2: Climate-resilience in shoreline management in two focal states

Component 3: Pilot community demonstration projects on community-based climate resilient measures

Component 4: Institutions will help in strengthening capacity and raising awareness of coastal climate change and adaptation measures

Benefit :
This project will support strengthening coastal resilience, coastal infrastructure, and communities to the adverse impacts of climate change by preparing adaptation guidelines.


NAT CAT Risk Analysis in Morocco

Client: Société Centrale de Réassurance (S.C.R), Morocco

RMSI is developing a NAT CAT Analysis tool at a national level for the client’s insurance product creation and pricing methodology.

Solution:
The following hazards are included in the NAT CAT analysis:
1. Flood
2. Earthquake
3. Tsunami

The tool includes the following major functionalities:

  • Exposure Management
  • Loss Estimation
  • Combined Loss
  • Live CAT loss estimation

RMSI will provide support and services in case of a live catastrophic event. This service will be offered whenever a disaster hits Morocco. RMSI will generate the following:

  • Hazard intensity map
  • Return period associated with the event
  • Event report that discusses event parameter, reason for occurrence, hazard intensity distribution and expected losses from the event

Benefit : Using the Enhanced MnhPRA software, SCR, the public reinsurer in Morocco, is going to setup Nat Cat Modeling practices within the Moroccan insurance industry, plan their reinsurance purchase and bring scientific basis in risk pricing.
