Visit of Scientists and Technologists from IIPA, by the Department of Science & Technology to RMSI

Indian Institute of Public Administration conducted the 12th Training Programme on Science Technology & Emerging Trends in Governance for Scientists & Technologists by the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. The training program included 32 scientists and technologists visiting RMSI to learn how our sustainability practice works and how we implement Disaster Risk Reduction and Management solutions/models in national and international projects.

9th Annual CAT RISK Management and Modeling summit 2022

The world's largest independent CAT modeling conference for the Sustainability Industry brings together key industry stakeholders. It discusses major NAT CAT perils, cyber risks, emerging risks such as wildfires, ESG impacts on underwriting, man-made liability, data reliance, and more.

The RMSI delegates discussed their offerings and how risk reduction could be facilitated by NAT CAT modeling.

International Conference on Climate and Weather-related Extremes (ICCWE 2022)

The Department of Water Resources Development and Management (WRD&M) organizes the International Conference on Climate and Weather-related Extremes (ICCWE 2022) at IIT Roorkee, India, as they celebrate 175 years (1847-2022) of existence.

Dr. Pratap Singh, Vice President - Sustainability, RMSI, was the keynote speaker and expressed his views on the "Recent Development in Flood Forecasting."

Dr. Murari Lal

Climate Change Practice Head, RMSI

Dr. Lal has more than 35 years of experience in weather prediction and application of global and regional climate models for climate change scenario analysis, adaptation planning, and management of climate risks and their implications for water, agriculture, forestry, energy, and ecology.

Dr. Lal was part of the Nobel Peace Prize Award-winning IPCC team in 2007 and has contributed to all four scientific assessment reports of climate change conducted by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). He has completed his Ph. D. in Geophysics with a specialization in meteorology. He has been a key part of the policy development process, including the review & analysis of Multilateral Environmental Agreements in Asia.

Dr. Lal has won many accolades in his illustrious career, including scientific contributions to the Nobel Peace Prize award in 2007 by IPCC. He has been a founding member of the task group on 'Climate Scenarios for Impact Assessment of the IPCC (1997-2003), WMO - IPCC Secretariat, Geneva. He has also been a member of the Core Group: Planning Commission, Govt. of India on regional climate change issues (1998-2000) and a member of the core writing team, Synthesis Report of IPCC Third Assessment.
