RMSI acknowledged as 'Partner of the Year - ISV Solution' by Esri India

RMSI was awarded at the recent Esri India Partner Conference 2021 as 'Partner of the Year - ISV (Independent Software Vendor) Solution'. Based on the theme ‘Accelerate, Collaborate & Excel’, the Esri India Partner Awards acknowledged and recognized the work of its GIS partners.

RMSI was recognized for its exemplary contribution in promoting and adopting GIS in India by creating a GIS-based Emergency Management Decision Support System (DSS). The system is built on top of a portal for ArcGIS and implements cutting-edge IoT integration technologies with natural catastrophe risk modeling to support emergency management. RMSI and Esri India have collaborated to bring the best of GIS technologies to the emergency management community of India.

RMSI Webinar on Flood Forecasting & Early Warning Systems, June 2021

Considering the increasing frequency and severity of flood events globally, RMSI conducted a webinar on Flood Forecasting and Early Warning Systems (FFEWS). Flood forecasting and Early Warning System is an innovative and efficient solution that countries can adopt to mitigate flood risks.

In this webinar, RMSI’s water resource expert Dr. Pratap Singh discussed several flood management practices, specifically early warning systems that can be adopted to reduce flood and its susceptibility. He also elaborated on the framework of the flood forecasting model and how it helps generate flood inundation maps.

Dr. Singh also highlighted the several communication mediums such as radio, SMS/Email alerts, media, and flood risk reports that can be streamlined to receive timely alerts.  RMSI’s Flood Forecasting and Early Warning Systems reduces response time to impending flood situations by nearly 48-72 hours and helps safeguard human lives and infrastructure.

International Conference on Disaster Risk Management, July 2021

Considering the rising concerns towards initiation of measures for climate change adaptation, an International Conference on Disaster Risk Management (DRM) was organized by the Climate Resilient Observing Systems Promotion Council (CROPC), India Meteorological Department (IMD), and Ministry of Earth Science, Government of India on June 30-July 1, 2021.

RMSI’s Disaster Risk Management Expert Dr. Sushil Gupta was one of the key speakers at the e-conference. Here, he discussed how RMSI’s geospatial technology can help in cyclone impact forecasting and presented the forecasting made by RMSI during cyclone Amphan and Tauktae through a web-based Dynamic Composite Risk Atlas & Decision Support System (Web-DCRA&DSS) that has been developed for NCRMP Cell, NDMA (with financial assistance from the World Bank) and is being operational at IMD, New Delhi.

The conference focused on understanding disaster risk, hazards, vulnerabilities, and early warning, preventive tools to DRM, use of technology in disaster management, socio-economic aspects of disaster management, and experiences, challenges, and way ahead with special reference to COVID 19, Himalayan disasters (Chamoli disaster, Kedarnath, GLOF, Earthquake, Landslide), coastal and urban disasters management and earthquake.
