Overview

As a leading British multinational telecommunications pioneer, the client has operations across 21 countries and 48 partner markets in Europe and Africa. Along with one of Europe’s largest 5G networks and the world’s leading IoT network, they are committed to enable a digitally inclusive society. As a part of their expansion plans, they sought to enhance their fibre optic infrastructure, seeking efficient network planning and design solutions.

The Challenge

Managing and planning a complex network across diverse regions led to significant hurdles. Ensuring accurate field verification became a key challenge in optimising the network design with minimum disruptions. Additionally, achieving seamless connectivity required meticulous coordination for integrating existing and leased networks. Balancing cost efficiency with technological advancements while maintaining high service standards further complicated the implementation process.

The Solution

To make the client’s fibre optic network expansion efficient and future-proof, RMSI leveraged the expertise in the project by combining planning, field verification, and best-in-class design approaches. The project was meticulously planned and executed in the following stages:

  • A robust framework was developed at a High-Level Design (HLD) stage by analysing the client’s existing network assets. This laid the groundwork for efficient network expansion and integration with current infrastructure.
  • Through detailed Field Surveys, our highly skilled team meticulously marked the existing civil routes, internal cable pathways, and termination points to capture the data that would shape the final network design.
  • The field survey insights laid the foundation for the design team to transform the information into actionable network blueprints. These Low-Level Designs (LLD) allowed precise, cost-effective implementation, minimising disruptions and maximising efficiency.
