Records management for an energy utility
The client distributes electricity and provides street lighting services across Toronto. For its multi-year project to consolidate its Asset records into a common GIS system and a separate Enterprise Asset Management System (EAM). This strategic effort aims to ensure complete, accurate, and consistent data across all electrical and civil assets, ultimately enhancing service reliability, reducing power outages, and enabling timely, informed decision-making. The scope of work includes supporting the Records Management section through asset data validation, error resolution, and system updates across both planned and reactive operations.
One of the key challenges in this transition lies in managing and harmonizing data from multiple sources while maintaining accuracy and consistency across platforms. Ensuring timely updates and resolving discrepancies in asset records requires meticulous coordination and technical expertise. The phased approach, although structured, demands careful prioritization of services and continuous oversight to prevent service disruptions. Additionally, aligning the GIS and EAM systems with ongoing maintenance and inspection updates poses integration and data governance hurdles that must be addressed throughout the implementation process.
To meet the client’s timelines and ensure service excellence, RMSI implemented a blended on-site and offshore delivery model. This allowed for efficient collaboration, consistent performance, and high-quality output throughout the project lifecycle. Key solutions delivered included:
By outsourcing the project to RMSI, the client was able to focus on key business functions while achieving a significant scalability advantage. The team swiftly cleared backlogs, enabling the client to achieve the year-end targets. Through agile resource augmentation during peaks and valleys of project volumes, the client ensured a smooth delivery. All phases of the project aligned with the client’s quality standards, delivery schedules, and budget, demonstrating a high level of execution and reliability.
