Overview

A public works authority in the Middle East region provides world-class infrastructure facilities, including roads, drainage, and government buildings. One of their key departments offers comprehensive technical and engineering services.

Improve visibility into process tracking across the organization

  • The transition from a paper-based to a paperless design inquiry system.
  • Develop an intuitive, integrated workflow for design engineers and stakeholders.
  • Enhance the existing Q-PRO system to streamline infrastructure project planning and approval processes.

The Challenge

Lack of integration with third-party agencies

The client’s design inquiry process was previously a cumbersome, paper-based system. Engineers manually submitted concept drawings and associated documents to various utility agencies, requiring significant follow-ups to collect the documents back. This manual routing often resulted in delays ranging from days to months, loss of documents, and other inefficiencies. Additionally, the existing Road Opening system lacked integration with many workflow processes and featured a non-intuitive user interface.

The Solutions

Deliver an integrated application to enhance productivity and reduce costs

RMSI developed a web-based GIS application to streamline infrastructure project planning and approvals. This solution automates the Design Enquiry System and enhances the client’s portal, enabling engineers to use geospatial data for spatial analysis. Key features include diversion planning, comprehensive reporting, bilingual (English/Arabic) support, and integration with various business systems.

The Impact

The transformation to a web-based GIS application and the redevelopment of the client portal significantly improved the client’s infrastructure project management. The automated system reduced delays, minimized document loss, and enhanced stakeholder collaboration. The intuitive interface and integrated workflows streamlined the design inquiry and road-opening processes, resulting in more efficient project planning and execution.
